In late summer of 2024, Kaufland continued its e-commerce expansion by opening two new online marketplaces, Kaufland.pl in Poland and Kaufland.at in Austria. Both are developing strongly. There are already 3,000 sellers on board on both marketplaces, selling around three million items per marketplace. The marketplaces and the wide range of products available there in 6,400 categories have also been well received by customers: Up to one million visitors already visit Kaufland.at and up to three million Kaufland.pl every month.
The successful launch of the two new marketplaces was largely due to an early bird offer, valid for the first three months of each marketplace’s operation. Sellers who joined either marketplace could sell on all Kaufland marketplaces without a monthly fee and received a €1,200 Sponsored Product Ads discount to advertise on Kaufland.at and Kaufland.pl. This risk-free offer allowed new sellers to explore the benefits of the Kaufland Global Marketplace, while existing sellers could expand into new markets and become familiar with new target groups.
We also released a quick and easy listing solution that allows sellers to list their existing marketplace offers on one Kaufland marketplace within a few minutes on other Kaufland marketplaces and sync these offers automatically.
Besides the already existing translation service for product data and customer ticket translation for sellers and customers, we also are enrolling a legal text translation at the moment, where sellers easily and automatically can adapt their existing legal documents to different languages. The MVP is already successfully running.
Moreover, we introduced a process for product data translation in the wrong language. It is triggered when a seller provides the product information in a wrong language , e.g. “Dutch” instead of “German” on Kaufland.de. With the help of the AI tool DeepL, we automatically translate the information into the correct language.
