Locastic is an innovative design and development team with more than a decade of experience in transforming creative business ideas into flawless digital products.

Distinction from the competition

During the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the largest regional grocery chains got in touch with us to level up the business by replicating the Tommy shopping experience in the digital world. They wanted to create a mobile and desktop version of their new digital shop. As Tommy is the largest grocery chain in Dalmatia with more than 200 stores in the region, we could not apply the same principles from our usual Ecommerce projects. First of all, we had to conduct a project discovery workshop to learn about a partner's habits and adapt their business workflow.

Results? Our team identified 35 challenging business cases related to user experience, database logic, and performance. The first step was creating the mobile app with core Ecommerce functionalities, with three types of grocery pickup and delivery options, custom weighing margins, shared shopping lists, and more neat features. If you ask us, the hardest part of the process was syncing prices and availability for 6000 products in real-time for 230 stores. The process which usually takes about 4 hours was reduced to less than 3 minutes, 95% faster than before! We also created a shopping list that can be shared with friends and family. When we talk about delivery and pickup systems, Tommy users can select between three different types of delivery and they can pick up groceries at most Tommy stores in Croatia. Also, products can be delivered to their doorstep, either with Tommy’s delivery fleet or external partners like Glovo.

Product or service innovations

Today, Tommy users can order groceries from any location and any device, thanks to the mobile app which was upgraded to a desktop version, along with the redesign of Tommy's corporate website. The final feather in our imaginary cap included developing a loyalty program membership system for recurring Tommy customers. We built an omnichannel loyalty structure to compensate for both online and offline purchases with rewards, discounts and special incentives.
